Chapter Twelve

“Save your lies Tiara. How could you? I trusted you. You tried to kill me and my sister! What did I do to you?” Jewel shouted.

Tiara looked around for Quan now standing close behind Jewel whispering something in her ear. Tiara rolled her eyes the two were in cahoots with each other. Sober now Tiara stood to her feet she tried to cover her naked body with her arms.

“Listen Jewel, you know me. I would never do something like that. I’m the one who has always had you back, don’t do this!” Tiara pleaded.

“Just kill her, she is lying.” Quan said folding his arms.

“Not yet not until she tells me why.” Jewel hissed.

Tiara stood naked terrified for her life. She didn’t recognize the person pointing the gun at her. Jewels eyes were black pools of hate as she cocked the gun loudly causing Tiara jump in fright.

“Okay. I’m sorry Jew. I have watched you get handed everything. while I had to show my ass just to pay rent. You don’t know nothing about living on the street. After you left for college I was stuck here to sell ass just to eat! Damn, I saw an opportunity to come up I took it! Can you really blame me for that? Not everybody can be a hood princess! Open your pretty little eyes Jewel, we were never on the same level!” she said.

“I loved you T.” Jewel whispered as tears ran down her cheeks.

Tiara closed her eyes she prayed. She knew it was over. She had betrayed her best friend, she would pay for it with her life. Regret took over her, it wouldn’t be long before she had met her maker.

“Forgive me.” She begged.

The sound of a loud gun shot bounced off the walls of the hotel room. Tiara looked down in horror as blood leaked from her chest. Falling to her knees Tiara struggled to breathe. She could feel life drain from her when everything went black.

“Come on ma’, we got to get out of here.” Santana said pulling on my arm.

I was stuck; I couldn’t seem to move. Did I just kill my best friend? My hands trembled as Santana took the gun away from me. I stood over Tiara as she laid there on the floor in a puddle of her own blood lifeless. Hot tears soaked my shirt as the reality of what I had done set in. Santana picked me up, threw me over his shoulder ran out of the hotel room.

I broke down once we were safely on the road. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine this moment. I had to clue who I was anymore. A killer. I had become that. That was my reality. All I wanted to do was crawl up in my bed stay there until everything was as it should be.

“Trust me, you did the right thing.” Santana reassured me. I looked at him blankly hoping that he was right. Closing my eyes I exhaled deeply to slow down my racing heart.
